A Locke man was arrested on a four-year-old warrant after the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said another police agency took him into custody in an unrelated case.
Deputies said the warrant charged the 26-year-old man with third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, in connection with alleged threats toward family members during a June 18, 2022, domestic incident.
The sheriff's office identified the man as Jeremy R. Schmutzler. Deputies said they were unable to locate him after the 2022 incident, leading to the warrant.
Ithaca police notified Cayuga County deputies Aug. 5 that Schmutzler was in custody on an unrelated matter in the city. Deputies later took custody of him and brought him to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing.
Schmutzler was then turned over to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment court, the sheriff's office said.
