Carnival Cruise Line recently revealed to the public its plan to spice up its 2027/2028 season for Texas cruisers with increased diversity, and now it’s doubling down by committing to significant undertakings at three other U.S. home ports outside of Florida.
Although Florida remains one of the top hubs for Carnival cruises, the cruise line is showing that its secondary markets are far from an afterthought, announcing new ship deployments and itineraries in an effort to shake things up.
In a world where super-sized ships are becoming the norm, Carnival is committed to making vacation possible for nearly half of the Americans who reside within a five-hour drive from one of its ports. Convenience is only the starting point, and they are dedicated to making the cruise options in those markets exciting and diverse.
Besides offering convenient destinations, Carnival is also enhancing the loyal customer experience through its newly unveiled Carnival Rewards loyalty program. The international cruise company recently added “lifetime status” to its loyalty program that rewards the most loyal guests in the Diamond and Platinum tiers.

New homeport in Norfolk with Carnival Freedom
Carnival Freedom is setting off for a new home in Norfolk! In May 2027, the ship leaves Port Canaveral for a special 15-day Carnival Journeys cruise of the Southern Caribbean, with stops including Aruba, Curacao, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas.
It will make its way to Norfolk on May 23, 2027; to kick off the most diversified cruise schedule the area has ever seen. Take six-day Bahamas cruises visiting Celebration Key, Nassau, and Bimini, and six-day Bermuda cruises with consecutive days to explore the island.
There will also be eight-day Eastern Caribbean cruises visiting Amber Cove, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, and Grand Turk, and eight-day Canada cruises visiting Halifax, Sydney, Saint John, or Charlottetown.

Seven-day Bermuda cruises with three consecutive days of island adventure are available as well. For longer trips, Carnival Journeys offers nine-, 12-, and 14-day voyages to places like Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Antigua, Tortola, and Martinique.
Carnival Pride has a special tie to Baltimore, having launched the city’s first year-round cruise program over 20 years ago. The 2,134-guest Spirit-class vessel is packed with fan favorites, including the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, and is popular among cruisers.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, shared that the 2027/28 updates are key to their strategy for delivering unique, fun-filled experiences. She emphasized, “With fun on the move, we’re creating new options; a newer ship for Norfolk and a new series dedicated to Hawaii sailings from Long Beach are both great examples of that.” She also noted the company’s ongoing commitment to all its homeports, saying, “Carnival Pride’s year-round deployment in Baltimore is a testament to that as well.”
