Crowds are expected to fill the First Baptist Church of Penfield this Saturday morning — not just for pancakes, but for a purpose.
The church will host its Flapjack Benefit Breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. on November 15, with all proceeds going to support Refugees Helping Refugees, a local nonprofit focused on empowering Rochester’s refugee community.
Breakfast includes a full spread: pancakes with pure maple syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, apple topping, whipped cream, coffee, and more. Sugar-free syrup will also be available. Tickets are $10 per person, or $5 for kids.
The church, located at 1862 Penfield Road, encourages everyone to bring friends and family — and to leave the cooking to them. The event space is handicap accessible, and donations are gratefully accepted.
Refugees Helping Refugees works to give resettled individuals the tools and support they need to thrive, aiming to make them “agents of their own advancement,” according to the flyer.
