Free rabies vaccination clinic set for Nov. 14 in Auburn

Pet owners in Cayuga County will have the chance to protect their furry friends for free at an upcoming rabies vaccination clinic.

The Cayuga County Health Department and the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York will host a free rabies clinic on Friday, November 14. The clinic runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at 41 York Street in Auburn.

Dogs, cats, and ferrets that are four months or older are eligible. Dogs must be leashed and muzzled if necessary, while cats and ferrets must be in carriers — one pet per carrier.

Pet owners who bring proof of a previous rabies shot can receive a three-year certificate. Ferrets will receive one-year certificates only, and their prior vaccinations cannot be used for proof.

Pre-registration is not required, but organizers say it’s preferred. For more information or to register, contact the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York at 315-253-5841 or register online.
