A plan to build 10 upscale townhouses near Cayuga Heights’ Community Corners is facing a complicated review, according to The Ithaca Voice. Developer Mark Mecenas had to scale down the original 37-unit proposal after a new state wetlands law made much of the land off-limits.
The revised plan doesn’t meet the area’s strict zoning rules, which allow only single-family homes. To move forward, the project will need special approval through a Planned Development Zone — a rare process in the village.
A vote on the proposal’s concept is set for Nov. 12, but officials expect design revisions and a lengthy review ahead.
