A man was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after allegedly striking a pedestrian and crashing into a building before fleeing the scene in Ontario, Wayne County.
According to New York State Police, the incident happened around 1:03 p.m. on October 23 at Bill Gray’s on State Route 104. Troopers say a dark-colored Ford pickup truck drove around the side of the building, hit a male pedestrian, and then took off.
The victim suffered injuries to his lower body and was transported by Wayne County EMS to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. His condition has not been publicly released.
Following a joint investigation, Troopers and officers from the Webster Police Department located both the vehicle and its driver a short time later in the town of Webster. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Jessie Adams — who police say has no permanent address — was taken into custody without incident.
Adams was issued multiple traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Town Court at a later date. The investigation remains active, and police say additional information may be released as it becomes available.
State Police were assisted on scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Ontario Fire Department, Wayne County EMS, and the Webster Police Department.
