Shoppers in the Finger Lakes area could soon get a new destination for outdoor gear as Bass Pro Shops plans a major new store in Victor.
The 90,000-square-foot location is set for Eastview Mall off Route 96 and is expected to open in late 2026. It will be the fifth Bass Pro Shops in New York and aims to serve outdoor enthusiasts across the Finger Lakes region.
Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris called the area “amazing” for its outdoor opportunities and said the store will help families gear up for time together in nature. The company is known for blending shopping with entertainment, outdoor education, and conservation.
“We can’t wait to help outfit the great outdoorsmen and women throughout the area,” Morris said.
The new Victor Outpost will feature a custom design that reflects the sporting heritage of upstate New York. Like other Bass Pro Shops, it will include immersive features, themed displays, and educational elements. A team of in-house artists and craftsmen will bring the store’s local feel to life.
Bass Pro’s unique approach has earned it comparisons to theme parks, and Morris is often referred to as “The Walt Disney of the Outdoors.”

The company says visitors leave its stores with more than gear — they walk away inspired to spend time outdoors with family and friends.
Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren said the new store will breathe new life into the Eastview Mall space and boost the local economy.
“The addition of Bass Pro not only revitalizes a key retail space but also strengthens our reputation as a top destination for shopping and leisure,” Marren said.
The Victor location is expected to create more than 120 jobs. Openings will be listed at basspro.com/careers.
Conservation is central to the company’s mission. Over the past decade, Bass Pro Shops has donated more than 10% of its earnings to conservation efforts.
Shoppers can support these causes through the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, which helps protect wildlife habitat and introduce new audiences to the outdoors.
Through its “Legendary Salute” program, Bass Pro Shops offers a daily 10% discount to veterans, active military, law enforcement, firefighters, and state wildlife agency employees. Firearms and ammo receive a 5% discount.
What started in 1972 as an 8-foot tackle display in the back of a liquor store has grown into nearly 200 stores across North America. The company now includes Cabela’s, White River Marine Group, and Big Cedar Lodge resort.
Bass Pro Shops has also racked up awards, including “America’s Best Outdoor Retailer” and “America’s Most Trusted Outdoor Retailer,” according to Newsweek.
