A deputy avoided a head-on crash in Sempronius earlier this month, then arrested the other driver for driving while intoxicated.
Deputies say 53-year-old Lewis H. Rosekrans was behind the wheel when his car crossed the yellow center line on East Lake Road the night of October 6. A Cayuga County deputy heading the opposite direction had to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid a collision.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and determined Rosekrans was intoxicated. He was taken into custody and brought to the Public Safety Building, where officials say he registered a .19% blood alcohol level.
Rosekrans was charged with first-offense DWI, aggravated DWI, and failure to keep right. He’s scheduled to appear in Owasco Town Court on October 28 at 6 p.m.
