Local protesters to rally against Trump policies at “No Kings Day” event

Local residents are planning to line the streets outside the Schuyler County Courthouse this Saturday as part of a nationwide protest against what organizers call authoritarian policies under the Trump administration.

The peaceful rally in Watkins Glen is part of the national “No Kings” day of action. It starts at 1 p.m. on North Franklin Street.

The protest is organized by members of Hector Schuyler Indivisible, a grassroots political group. They say the event is meant to push back against growing influence from billionaires in government and highlight the importance of community-led democracy.

Organizers also want to draw attention to how Trump-era policies have impacted Schuyler County and similar communities. Their message includes calls for fairer economic systems and support for immigrants.

Along with signs and speeches, the event will feature live music, voter registration opportunities, and a chance for attendees to support immigrant legal aid efforts.

A spokesperson will be available for media interviews at the event. According to the advisory, the protest will go forward rain or shine.
