Hochul vetoes EV emergency training bill

Gov. Kathy Hochul has vetoed a bill that would’ve created electric vehicle emergency response training for first responders, citing budget concerns, according to State of Politics.

The bill responded to rising EV use and a lack of firefighter training for lithium-ion battery incidents. Hochul said the proposal should be considered during budget talks, not through standalone legislation.

New York expects 3 million EVs on the road by 2030.
