The Throop Fire Department is calling on the community for help — not just in emergencies, but in keeping the station running.
The department is actively recruiting new volunteers for a wide range of roles, from firefighters and EMTs to drivers, engineers, scene support, and auxiliary members. The urgent call comes as the department works to maintain services and staffing.
Volunteers don’t need previous training. The department provides all necessary gear and instruction at no cost.
Opportunities are open to:
- Junior members (ages 15–18)
- Regular members (ages 18 and up)
- Those interested in support roles or auxiliary help
“If you’ve ever wanted to give back to your community in a real and rewarding way, now’s the time,” the department said in a public post. “Even if you don’t want to run into burning buildings, there’s still a place for you.”
Community members can message the department directly on Facebook, email [email protected], or call 315-252-4051 to learn more about current volunteer openings.
The department also encourages residents to share the post to help spread the word.
