With just weeks to go before Election Day, the Ontario County Board of Elections has received more than 2,000 requests for mail ballots.
As of 1 p.m. on Oct. 10, a total of 2,044 voters have requested ballots, including early vote-by-mail applications, absentee ballots, and ballots for military and overseas voters.
The breakdown includes:
- 1,592 permanent absentee ballots (typically for voters with disabilities)
- 231 early vote-by-mail requests
- 152 standard absentee requests, including election inspectors
- 33 military ballots
- 55 from overseas voters
So far, 1,975 ballots have been mailed out to civilian voters, while just 339 have been returned. Military and overseas voters have received 88 ballots, with 9 returned so far.
Ontario County currently has 79,097 active registered voters. That includes 29,142 Republicans, 22,961 Democrats, and 21,652 not affiliated with any party.
No mail ballots have been scanned yet, and all numbers are considered unofficial and subject to change.
