Drivers traveling through Chemung County this weekend should plan for delays on Interstate 86.
The New York State Department of Transportation says eastbound I-86 will be closed from Exit 56 (Elmira) to Exit 57 (Lowman/Wellsburg) starting at 7 p.m. Friday, October 10, through 7 a.m. Sunday, October 12, for a culvert replacement project.
A detour will be posted using State Routes 352, 14, and 427. Officials say work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers are reminded to slow down in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding, and multiple violations can lead to a license suspension.
