A photo of a New York commercial driver’s license marked “No Name Given” sparked a political firestorm after Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt claimed it was issued to an undocumented immigrant — a claim that spread fast, including by Rep. Elise Stefanik, according to the Times Union.
But New York officials say the license followed all federal rules and went to a legal immigrant with work authorization. The “No Name Given” label? It’s standard for people from cultures with single names, like many Indonesians.
The viral post also wrongly blamed New York’s Green Light Law, which doesn’t allow undocumented immigrants to get commercial licenses. DMV records and Real ID rules contradict the entire claim.
