Seneca County economic board to hear from Tyre, Ovid leaders Thursday

The Seneca County Local Development Corporation (SCLDC) will continue its Town Supervisor Listening Tour this Thursday, October 2, with interviews featuring leaders from the Towns of Tyre and Ovid.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Lyons National Bank Community Room in Waterloo and is open to the public.

As part of the Listening Tour, SCLDC board members are meeting with town supervisors to better understand local development priorities and challenges—and to help align economic efforts across the county. This week’s meeting will include conversations with Tyre Supervisor Beth Partee and Ovid Supervisor Joe Borst, joined by Ovid Mayor Aaron Roisen.

The board is also expected to review its proposed 2026 budget, which includes funding for staff, office space, equipment, and strategic programming. Notably, while the organization received a $250,000 allocation in 2025, no revenue is currently budgeted for 2026, highlighting the need for a long-term funding plan.

Committee meetings, updates on key projects also expected

Thursday’s meeting will include scheduling for the SCLDC’s audit, finance, and governance committees, which will meet over the next two months.

Board members may also receive updates on the organization’s request for proposals (RFP) for strategic planning services, and potentially discuss progress (if any) on future redevelopment opportunities at the former Willard site.

The SCLDC was formed to help coordinate countywide economic and community development efforts. The Listening Tour is part of its early outreach strategy to ensure future initiatives match each town’s unique needs.
