New York’s utility regulator just backed a natural gas plan tied to a still-unapproved pipeline under New York Harbor, according to the Times Union.
The Public Service Commission approved National Grid’s plan to boost gas supply to New York City using the controversial Northeast Supply Expansion project. Environmental groups slammed the move, warning it locks the state into fossil fuels and burdens ratepayers.
The pipeline still needs a green light from the Department of Environmental Conservation. Gov. Kathy Hochul denies promising it to Trump, but critics say politics—not policy—are steering the project forward.
