Kanona Rest Area on I-86 to close for two days

Drivers traveling through Steuben County this week should plan for a temporary closure of the Kanona Rest Area on Interstate 86 in Bath.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced the rest area will be closed through tomorrow for ongoing pavement rehabilitation work.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternate stops or routes during the two-day closure. All construction work is weather-dependent and may shift based on conditions.

NYSDOT reminds drivers to slow down in work zones, where fines are doubled for speeding. Multiple violations in a work zone can lead to a suspended driver’s license.
