One of Geneva’s most meaningful fall traditions is back — and once again, it’s all about fighting hunger, one bowl at a time.
The Empty Bowls fundraiser returns Sunday, October 6 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Geneva Community Center, located at 160 Carter Road. The annual event supports local food programs and brings together artists, chefs, and community members for a shared cause.
A bowl, a meal, a donation
For a $30 donation, guests can select a handcrafted bowl made by local artists and enjoy a warm lunch of soup and bread, all donated by area restaurants. The bowl is theirs to keep — a symbol of the meal provided and the empty bowls that still need filling across the region.
All proceeds benefit the Geneva Community Lunch Program and Food Justice of Geneva, two initiatives working year-round to fight food insecurity in the Finger Lakes.
Support from artists and restaurants
Local potters have created over 300 bowls for this year’s event, and nearly a dozen restaurants are donating soups and breads. The variety promises something for everyone — and the chance to support the community in a hands-on way.
Empty Bowls began as a grassroots project and has grown into a cherished annual event in Geneva, raising both funds and awareness for hunger relief.
Tickets are available online or at the door, while supplies last.
