A man who evaded sentencing for more than three years will now serve 15 years in state prison for two separate violent robberies in Cayuga County.
Sadiq Bonner-Judge, 24, of Auburn, was sentenced on September 4 to two consecutive 7.5-year prison terms for attempted robbery and robbery — both classified as violent felonies.
Two incidents, two victims, and one firearm
Bonner-Judge was convicted of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree and Robbery in the Second Degree, involving different victims in separate incidents. During one of the robberies, he forcibly stole property while displaying what appeared to be a firearm. In the second case, he caused injury to the victim while taking property by force.
He had previously pleaded guilty to both charges in 2022.
Evaded law enforcement for over 3 years
Bonner-Judge failed to show up for sentencing and managed to avoid law enforcement for more than 37 months. A bench warrant was issued, and prosecutors said he evaded capture until recently.
Originally, he was promised 5 years in prison plus post-release supervision. But the court imposed a stiffer sentence after he failed to appear and didn’t cooperate with probation.
He will also serve five years of post-release supervision following his prison term.
The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Chris Valdina and handled by District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci.
