A routine traffic stop in Farmington led to the arrest of a Livingston man early Saturday after deputies discovered he was violating an active court order.
Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a vehicle on State Route 332 just after midnight on September 27 for an obstructed license plate. During the stop, they learned that the passenger in the vehicle had a court-issued Stay Away order of protection against the driver, 37-year-old Brian Matthews of Lima, NY.
Matthews was arrested and charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor under New York State law. He was taken to the Ontario County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
The arrest was made by Deputies Avanzato and Zambanini.
