Locke man held on $10K bail after violating court order

A man in Locke was arrested early Friday morning after deputies say he violated a full stay-away order of protection—while reporting another alleged violation himself.

Michael J. Yaw, 62, was taken into custody just after 2 a.m. on August 29, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were initially called to investigate a complaint made by Yaw, who claimed someone he had an order of protection against was violating it. But during the response, deputies discovered Yaw was actively talking on the phone with a different person who had an active order against him.

That full stay-away order barred any communication, including phone contact.

Yaw was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor. He was taken to the Public Safety Building for processing, then held for arraignment, where bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
