Rollover crash in Varick leads to DWI arrest

A New Jersey woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a rollover crash in Seneca County.

Deputies say the incident happened around 7:15 p.m. on August 29 along State Route 89 in the Town of Varick. When they arrived, they found that 27-year-old Leah Nichols, of Mount Laurel, had been behind the wheel when her vehicle left the road and hit a telephone pole. The crash caused the vehicle to roll, but no injuries were reported.

Investigators say Nichols had a blood alcohol content of 0.16%—twice the legal limit. She was charged with misdemeanor DWI, along with traffic violations for failing to keep right and driving over a hazard marking.

Nichols was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Varick Town Court on September 23 at 7 p.m.
