Cayuga County will spend $1.2 million to relocate its backup 911 center to the Auburn Fire Department, according to The Citizen.
The old site, in a closed county building, was found to contain asbestos. Officials warned the $8 million in equipment was at risk if left behind.
The county signed a five-year lease and called the move critical to protecting emergency services.
