Lakeview Health Services’ $38 million housing project just hit a major roadblock in Geneva, according to the Finger Lakes Times. On Tuesday, the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously denied the variances needed for the development.
The 74-unit project—planned for the former Finger Lakes Times site—had faced sharp opposition during a two-hour public hearing, with nearly every speaker voicing concerns about neighborhood impact.
Despite prior approval from the city’s Planning Board, the ZBA’s decision could derail the entire plan, which included 36 units for people with mental health challenges and others for income-based housing.
