A man in Cayuga County is facing multiple charges after a domestic dispute in Locke led to threats involving a firearm and the seizure of several weapons, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded to a residence on Pierce Road on August 23 after Cayuga County 911 received an open-line call reporting threats and the possibility that the suspect might set the home on fire.
When officers arrived, they found 62-year-old Michael J. Yaw and the victim sitting outside the home. Investigators say Yaw had made repeated threats to kill the victim and others while in possession of a shotgun and other objects.
Yaw resisted arrest and became combative, ignoring multiple commands before he was taken into custody, police said. He was processed at SP Auburn and transported to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.
Yaw is charged with:
- 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D felony)
- 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th (A misdemeanor)
- 2 counts of Menacing 2nd (A misdemeanor)
- 1 count of Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd (A misdemeanor)
- 1 count of Resisting Arrest (A misdemeanor)
- 2 counts of Harassment 2nd (violation)
State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
