74-year-old woman killed in head-on crash in Camillus

A woman died and four others were injured after a head-on crash Wednesday morning in the town of Camillus.

State Police say Darlene A. Cushman, 74, of Syracuse, was driving east on West Genesee Street around 11:10 a.m. when her car crossed the center line.

Troopers say Cushman’s Chevrolet Trax sideswiped a Toyota Sienna before hitting a BMW head-on. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BMW driver, 16-year-old Adam R. Mere, and his 15-year-old passenger, Leanna M. Mere, were taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sienna’s driver, Gabriel M. Cortesnieves, 38, and his passenger, Itchaneria Estradacruz, 38, were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by State Police, including the Collision Reconstruction Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
