A Schuyler County jury found a Beaver Dams man guilty of violating a court order and stalking a protected party. The verdict came after a three-day trial that ended Wednesday.
William E. Hunter, 51, was convicted of two counts of first-degree criminal contempt — both Class E felonies — and one count of fourth-degree stalking, a misdemeanor.
Prosecutors said Hunter sent threatening text messages and voicemails to someone he was legally barred from contacting. The jury agreed he intended to place the victim in fear and repeatedly tried to harass or threaten them, violating the court-issued Order of Protection.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Jeremy J. Hourihan led the prosecution.
Sentencing is set for October 16 in Schuyler County Court.
