Senator Pam Helming is inviting residents to roll up their sleeves for a community blood drive later this month.
The event runs Aug. 25 from 1 to 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 256 in Canandaigua, in partnership with the American Red Cross and the local American Legion. Helming said each donation can save up to three lives, and the need is especially urgent during the summer when donations drop.
Eligible donors can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or visiting redcrossblood.org with sponsor code AmericanLegion256. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will be prioritized.
