Claire’s, the popular mall chain known for ear piercings and teen accessories, has filed for bankruptcy again, according to USA TODAY. It’s the second time in seven years, with rising competition and inflation cited as key reasons.
At least 18 stores will close nationwide, including one Icing location at The Mall at Greece Ridge near Rochester, New York. That’s the only confirmed closure in the state so far.
The company is looking for a buyer or new financing. Most Claire’s and Icing stores — including 50 in New York — will stay open for now.
