A Trumansburg woman was arrested late Saturday night in the Town of Ovid after deputies say she was driving with a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit and had a prohibited weapon in her vehicle.
According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Evie Bellinger was stopped around 11:30 p.m. on August 3 after deputies observed her vehicle failing to maintain its lane. Several open containers of alcohol were found inside the car.
During the stop, deputies discovered a metal knuckle knife—commonly referred to as brass knuckles—which led to a charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Field sobriety tests were administered, and Bellinger was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A chemical breath test later showed a blood alcohol content of 0.28%.
Bellinger was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, and criminal possession of a weapon. She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Ovid Town Court on September 16.
