Congresswoman Claudia Tenney is calling for accountability after the release of a declassified House Intelligence Committee report she says confirms Obama-era officials fabricated the Russia collusion narrative targeting Donald Trump.
The report, released by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Majority Staff, claims the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment—led by then-CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James Comey—ignored credible intelligence and relied on discredited sources, including the Steele Dossier. According to the findings, the assessment was rushed and politically motivated.
“This report confirms what we’ve known for years: the Russia collusion hoax was a deliberate political operation, not a national security concern,” said Tenney, a Republican representing New York’s 24th Congressional District. “President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and their allies in the intelligence community weaponized our government to attack President Trump, silence the voices of American voters, and cover their own tracks.”
Tenney said the actions detailed in the report “shattered public trust and diverted national security resources from real threats,” calling the episode “an unprecedented abuse of power that demands full accountability.”
The report alleges that the Intelligence Community’s work in early 2017 was designed to legitimize a coordinated smear campaign and that the conclusions regarding Russian support for Trump were not based on sound analysis.
Tenney concluded her remarks by stating, “The American people deserve to know how deep this went, and every corrupt actor involved must be held to account.”
