National Women’s Hall of Fame receives $175K matching grant

The National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls has secured a $175,000 matching grant from Forward Global to support its mission of advancing gender equity through education, exhibits, and storytelling.

The funding comes from Forward Global’s Women’s Power & Influence initiative, which mobilizes philanthropic resources to support organizations working to elevate women and girls. The Hall’s grant was unlocked through donor match funding from the Forward Global community.

“This investment strengthens our ability to reach and empower future leaders across the country,” said Beckie Robertson, a member of the Hall’s Board of Directors. “By sharing the stories and preserving the legacies of groundbreaking women in American history, we hope to help inspire and cultivate the next generation of civic and cultural leadership.”

The grant arrives amid a period of momentum for the Hall. Recent milestones include hosting the 2025 Right to Run 5K at its historic location, welcoming new board members Katie Martell and Simi Shah, and spotlighting the work of Jean Kilbourne and Dr. Sujatha Ramanujan. The organization has also expanded its exhibits to honor inductees such as Dr. Temple Grandin, Lilly Ledbetter, Amelia Bloomer, Emily Howland, and Dr. Antonia Novello.

In recognition of its accessibility efforts, the Hall was listed in the Accessible NY Travel Guide. It also earned a New York State Historic Preservation Award for revitalizing its home, the former Seneca Knitting Mill.

Founded in 1969, the National Women’s Hall of Fame is the oldest nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to honoring the achievements of American women. Through exhibits and public outreach, the Hall preserves legacies that have often gone unrecognized.

Forward Global’s Women’s Power & Influence initiative will distribute over $50 million this year in donor and matched funds to support systemic change at the intersection of gender equity and leadership.
