Prattsburgh man charged with promoting prison contraband, drug possession

A 22-year-old man from Prattsburgh is facing criminal charges after allegedly possessing methamphetamine while in custody at the Yates County Jail earlier this year.

Nathaniel E. Garber was served a criminal summons on July 16 by Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies. Authorities say the charges stem from an incident in May 2025, when Garber was found with the controlled substance while incarcerated.

Garber has been charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree promoting prison contraband. According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, both charges relate to his time in the jail, though no further details about the incident were released.

Deputy Garren and Sergeant Chisom were involved in serving the summons. Garber is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
