Motorcyclist dies after collision with dump truck in Wayne County

A 45-year-old motorcyclist died Friday afternoon after crashing into a dump truck on Parker Road in the town of Marion, according to New York State Police.

The dump truck driver, James A. Suhr, 60, of Marion, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 4:05 p.m. on July 11. A preliminary investigation determined that the motorcycle was heading southbound on Parker Road when it struck the dump truck, which was stopped in the same lane. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests and a Preliminary Breath Test to Suhr. Authorities reported that “no signs of impairment were observed.”

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit also responded to assist with the investigation. The Wayne County Coroner was called to the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
