The Steuben County Jail has been awarded national accreditation for its health services, marking a major milestone in correctional care for the county.
Sheriff Jim Allard announced Thursday that the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) accredited the jail after it met all 20 of the commission’s mandatory standards for excellence.
“This is a great accomplishment for the facility and awesome recognition the entire Steuben County Sheriff’s Office should be proud of,” said Todd Haskins, COO of PrimeCare Medical. “Very few jails in the country reach this level of status.”
Sheriff Allard thanked Major David Sutton, the Corrections Division, PrimeCare Medical, and Steuben County Mental Health for their efforts in achieving the recognition. “We continue to strive to create a universal culture of utilizing only the best standards established in our industry to provide our best possible service to all Steuben County residents,” Allard said.
