New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s press secretary abruptly stepped down following allegations of sexual harassment at a staff retreat, according to Spectrum News.
Avi Small, who held the role since 2023, was put on leave immediately after the June 16 incident was reported. Hochul’s office emphasized her administration’s zero-tolerance policy and highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain a safe work environment.
Small previously served as Hochul’s deputy press secretary after she became governor in 2021. His LinkedIn page confirms his promotion last year. The governor’s office has declined further comment pending the outcome of the investigation.
