Construction of Micron’s massive chip-making complex in Clay, New York, will span two decades, with full operations expected by 2045, according to WSYR-TV. A newly released environmental impact report lays out a timeline starting with Fab 1 in 2025 and ending with Fab 4 in 2041.
Each fabrication plant will take about three years to build, opening sequentially. The site will also feature employee amenities like childcare and healthcare centers, with construction beginning in 2026 and 2030, respectively.
Even after construction ends, four more years of hiring will be needed. Micron’s long-term plan means children born today could be driving before the facility is fully up and running.
