Sam Nordquist, a transgender man brutally murdered earlier this year in Ontario County, was posthumously honored Thursday in New York City, according to WROC. His name was added to the National LGBTQ+ Wall of Honor at the historic Stonewall Inn.
Seven individuals have been charged in connection with Nordquist’s death, which LGBTQ+ advocates say highlights ongoing violence against the trans community. Sam’s family attended the emotional ceremony, sharing tattoos they got to memorialize him.
The honor comes as part of Pride Month, recognizing LGBTQ+ individuals whose lives made an impact. Sam was one of seven new names added in 2025.
