Volunteers with the Clifton Springs Fire Department faced a demanding week as they responded to two structure fires in just over a week, tackling dangerous conditions and coordinating with multiple agencies to protect their community.
On the morning of June 9, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on Pearl Street shortly before 9 a.m. Engines 531 and 512, along with Tower 5, responded within minutes. Ontario County OEM Car 1 was first to arrive and confirmed a working structure fire. With no municipal water in the area, Assistant Chief 501 requested a tanker task force.
Crews managed to contain the blaze to the kitchen and dining room. The fire was declared under control just 30 minutes after teams arrived on scene.
Then, on the night of June 17 around 10 p.m., firefighters were called to another reported house fire, this time on Stephen’s Street in the village. Flames were visible at the rear of the structure, possibly sparked by power lines. Engine 512 and Tower 5 responded, and interior crews launched an aggressive attack. They confirmed the fire had not extended into the home’s interior and successfully contained it to the building’s exterior.

The department extended its thanks to mutual aid companies who assisted during both incidents, including fire departments from Phelps, Manchester, Shortsville, Seneca Castle, Oaks Corners, North Side, Stanley, Gotham, and Newark, as well as Finger Lakes Ambulance and Ontario County emergency personnel.
