Langworthy announces .5M federal grant for Head Start in Bath

Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced Tuesday that more than $2.5 million in federal funding will support Head Start programs in Steuben County.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $2,530,907 to Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. to expand and sustain early childhood education initiatives in Bath, N.Y.

“I was proud to support and deliver over $2.5 million for Head Start projects in Bath,” said Langworthy. “Head Start programming is essential to families in our community and this funding will ensure children have the best opportunity to learn and be nurtured. Head Start provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and family support services to income-eligible families. The program emphasizes the role of parents and guardians as active participants in a child’s development and success.

The grant will allow Pro Action to continue offering critical services to children and families across the region, focusing on school readiness and family engagement.
