Gas prices in New York have jumped as the Israel-Iran conflict shakes global oil markets. The state average now sits at $3.21 per gallon—up 10 cents from last week.
The increase follows U.S. airstrikes in Iran that pushed oil prices up about $2 per barrel, hitting $74–$77 Monday morning. Areas like Elmira and Syracuse saw double-digit cent hikes in just a week. Experts warn that disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil shipping lane, could drive prices even higher.
AAA reports the national average gas price is now $3.22, still lower than this time last year, but rising fast as geopolitical instability continues.
