Watkins Glen celebrated the completion of its $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative with the opening of a fully accessible playground at Clute Park. The playground includes inclusive play equipment, ramps, and a carousel, and caps a series of eight revitalization projects.
Funded by state grants, the initiative aimed to boost tourism and year-round activity in the village. Other projects included housing and childcare centers, waterfront redevelopment, upgraded parks, signage, lighting, and zoning reforms to support smart growth and short-term rentals.
Local leaders praised the transformation, calling it a model for rural economic development that blends community charm with modern amenities.
