The Canandaigua Fire Department is saying farewell to one of its most respected members. After four years of service, Firefighter Ryan Foster is transferring to the North Greece Fire District.

Foster’s departure was announced by the Canandaigua Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 2098, which praised his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and leadership during his time with the department.

“Canandaigua is not just losing ‘another fireman,’” the union stated. “Firefighter Foster is the fireman that a fire officer or senior man wants on his shift, showing the new guys around and how to be a role model firefighter.”

Known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and camaraderie, Foster was described as both a trusted colleague and a close friend to many in the department. While his absence will be deeply felt, colleagues expressed confidence that he will continue to thrive in his new role.

“Be good and stop in often, brother,” the announcement concluded.
