Auburn Community Hospital recently celebrated the dedication of 83 staff members whose combined service totals 1,340 years, including one employee who has spent half a century caring for his community.
John Moschetti, who began working at the hospital in 1974, was honored for 50 years of service during the Employee Awards and Recognition Ceremony at the Springside Inn in Auburn. Now a Radiology File Clerk, Moschetti recalled his early days working with X-ray films and handwritten records.
“It was all X-ray films of various sizes. We packaged hard copies for patients or doctors to physically pick up. A lot has changed, for the better, in 50 years,” Moschetti said.
His remarks followed a standing ovation from colleagues and a tribute from staff recognizing his decades of service. “It’s a great feeling to help people heal. That’s what we do,” Moschetti added.

Hospital leadership praised the honorees for their commitment. “The men and women here exemplify what Auburn Community Hospital is all about. They are the true heroes saving lives day in and day out,” said President and CEO Scott Berlucchi. Board of Trustees Chairman Anthony D. Franceschelli added, “We meet the needs of the community and serve patients so well because of the hard work of our dedicated employees.”
In addition, three nurses—Alicyn Salato, RN (Critical Care), Karissa Howard, RN (Emergency Care Unit), and Beth O’Hara, RN (Pain Management)—received the DAISY Award for extraordinary compassion and care.
Employees were recognized for milestones ranging from five to fifty years. The full list of honorees includes individuals from departments across the hospital, showcasing its deep bench of long-serving professionals.
