Garage fire erupts in Canandaigua home, no injuries reported

A late-night garage fire lit up a residential neighborhood in Canandaigua, prompting a rapid response from multiple fire departments and emergency teams.

Firefighters arrived at 3932 Charing Cross just four minutes after the call came in at 9:34 PM on June 4. Crews from the Cheshire Fire Department confirmed heavy smoke and active flames coming from the garage upon arrival.

Working alongside the Canandaigua VA Fire Department, firefighters launched an interior attack and quickly knocked down the blaze. Teams searched the rest of the home for any fire extension, but the flames remained contained to the garage. The fire was declared under control at 9:48 PM.

Four residents and a dog were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

The response involved coordinated support from the Bristol Fire Department, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, and Ontario County Emergency Management Office. While Cheshire crews battled the blaze, the Bristol Fire Department also covered a separate motor vehicle accident on Route 5&20.

Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ontario County Emergency Management Office.
