A group of House Democrats wants the Federal Trade Commission to investigate possible price gouging at U.S. airports and sports stadiums, according to Spectrum News. They’re asking a House Appropriations subcommittee to include language in a budget bill directing the FTC to conduct the study.

Led by New York Rep. Dan Goldman, the lawmakers argue that concession prices are inflated at venues that benefit from public subsidies. Citing examples like $16 beers at Madison Square Garden and taxpayer support for Bills Stadium, they say fans and travelers deserve transparency.

The proposal highlights the disconnect between public investment and affordability. Goldman emphasized the need to ensure federal funding benefits everyday Americans, not just wealthy corporations.
