Two more Wayne-Finger Lakes teams added to their trophy cases Tuesday night. Just a day after the Penn Yan boys secured a sectional crown, the girls matched them with their third straight title, led by Bailey Cooper’s five-goal, six-point performance. Meanwhile, the Canandaigua’s boys lacrosse team staged a comeback to defeat rival Victor and clinch a sectional championship of their own.

The Blue Devils were just 12 minutes from securing a third straight sectional crown, but Canandaigua stormed back in the final quarter, outscoring Victor 4-1 to win their 11th sectional title and first since 2022. Mike Belles led the comeback with four goals, including the game-tying score with 7:33 remaining. Drew Williamee gave the Gray Wolves the lead less than a minute later, and Ryan Bremer followed with a crucial insurance goal just 17 seconds after that. Bremer finished the night with three goals and four points. Victor finished its season 14-5, while Canandaigua improved to 17-2 and advanced to the Class B regional against Section VI’s Lake Shore, scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
