The REMADE Institute has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to shape New York State’s new Waste Tire Program, which is expected to invest approximately $8 million in technologies that repurpose end-of-life tires.
The initiative, announced June 2 by the Rochester-based institute, aims to support projects that improve recycling, retreading, and reuse of tires throughout the state. REMADE was selected by the New York State Department of Economic Development earlier this year to lead the program’s development and administration.
Technologies under consideration include those enabling new applications for crumb rubber, expanding tire retreading, and incorporating recycled materials into new tire manufacturing. The RFI seeks input from industry, academia, non-profits, municipalities, and certified women-, minority-, and veteran-owned businesses.
“This RFI is for information and planning purposes only,” the institute clarified, adding that it expects to issue formal Requests for Proposals in early fall based on responses received.
Responses are due by July 15 and can be submitted through the REMADE Institute website at www.remadeinstitute.org.
Since its founding, REMADE has invested nearly $100 million in sustainable manufacturing research, partnering with federal and state agencies, academia, and industry to advance circular economy solutions.
