A barn on Jerusalem Hill Road in Elmira was destroyed Monday after an explosion sparked a massive fire, according to WETM. The blaze broke out around 12:30 p.m., sending thick black smoke across the area.
Fire officials said the explosion occurred at 172 Jerusalem Hill Road. By the time crews arrived, most of the barn’s structure had collapsed. Multiple departments responded to control the flames, though no injuries were reported.
It’s still unclear what caused the explosion or if animals were inside at the time. Investigators continue to gather details.
