The New York Mets (32-21) clinched a series win against the Los Angeles Dodgers (32-21) with a 3-1 victory on Sunday night at Citi Field.

Kodai Senga shook off a leadoff homer by Shohei Ohtani to deliver 5.1 gritty innings, holding one of the league’s most dangerous lineups to just one run. Despite allowing five hits and four walks, the right-hander stranded runners when it mattered and kept the Dodgers quiet the rest of the way. Senga improved to 5-3 on the season, and while his ERA ticked up slightly to 1.46.

Pete Alonso snapped his 16-game home run drought in the first inning, launching a two-run shot to left, his 10th of the year, after Juan Soto reached on an error. The blast provided all the run support the Mets would need, thanks to sharp defense and an airtight bullpen.

Tyrone Taylor continued to flash his elite glove, cutting down Mookie Betts at the plate in the first inning with a perfect throw from center field that preserved a 2-1 lead.

In relief, Max Kranick dominated with two hitless innings, Ryne Stanek recorded two outs, and Reed Garrett closed it out for the save with Edwin Díaz unavailable.

Box Score

The Mets now shift their focus to the Chicago White Sox, opening a three-game set on Monday with Clay Holmes on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. at Citi Field.
